Self Taught Inventor

fear not.

Fear is not an emotion.

It affects the emotions.

Being that it affects, them we assume that it originated out of emotions. It didn't. Your emotions did not create the fear, your fear created the emotions.

These emotions, 9 times out of 10 come from something we hear. After we've heard a thing it travels up to our brain and evokes a feeling. It's inevitable! BUT! We have the power to decide wether we will believe what we heard to be truth.

I remember I once worked at a camp for one month. I was a part of the ropes crew. Throughout the summer we put hundreds of kids and adults through a ropes course, which was very high in the air and encouraged them to jump off at the end. There was no drop, but to see that when you jumped off nothing stood between you and the ground was a hard thing to deal with. It even took me some getting used to (I never totally did). I remember this one kid in particular who was SUPER afraid. He made his way through every obstacle with the help of the team. It definitely tested our patience but we could totally understand where he was coming from. It wasn't a walk in the park. At the end came the big "faith jump" and he was NOT havin' it! He screamed so loud. "I ain't jumpin'!!! I'm gonna fall and my brains are gonna splat!! I'm gonna die"!!! We continued to encourage him and try to calm him down. As I observed, I noticed that his hysterical nature was beginning to affect the other kids. They began to hear him and their steps toward the jump became a lot slower.  (let it marinate)

We do this same thing. Although we have been proven protected time and time again we fear a jump! We see something scary so, like the boy we begin to tell ourselves what will possibly occur. "I'll go broke!", "I'll lose him/ her", "I'll die"! When did you become a psychic and how's that workin' for you? Once we've spoken those words we choose to believe them and thus fear going further.

Now speaking is a whole other post, but the thing is, you're going to always have to speak something in  order to get over fear. You have to choose what you're going to speak, negativity (Death) or positivity (Life). When we speak life, which I believe comes for the word of God (The Holy Bible), we begin to get TRUE understanding of what we are not wise enough and will never be wise enough to understand.

So today, tackle what you are afraid of.

Just Like A Child

It's sad the way our creativity fades as we grow older. How our innocents vanishes as we grow wiser. Reminds me of Adam.
Today, look back at a time that you played pretend. A time when you actually thought you were something the world told you that you couldn't be. Don't make the mistake of believing the world again. Be who you truly are. Do what makes you feel joy. Just like a child.

Praying with Lior

Here's the trailer for a extraordinary documentary about a kid named Lior. He was born with challenges that set him apart from everyone else that we consider "normal". He has down syndrome or "up" Syndrome as he likes to put it. Throughout the film you see this child battle with numerous things that we take for granted but one thing that he has no struggle at all with is davening (Jewish for Praying).
He praises and sings constantly and the amount of joy this kid has is unfathomable when you think of the heavy burden it must be not to understand the world around you. He brings light to everyone he comes in contact with, from his family, to his school mates, to Don the barber who cuts his hair. Lior has no fear in showing affection and telling those around him that he loves them.
While watching this film you can't help but to want the connection to God that this child has. At one point, when asked what davening does to God, Lior replys "It makes Him feel good". That's powerful.
Today, say a prayer. Sing praise to the most high. Wholeness will follow.

Shalom.
