Self Taught Inventor

"Invention should be replaced by the word revelation. It's divine." -JT

fear not.

Fear is not an emotion.

It affects the emotions.

Being that it affects, them we assume that it originated out of emotions. It didn't. Your emotions did not create the fear, your fear created the emotions.

These emotions, 9 times out of 10 come from something we hear. After we've heard a thing it travels up to our brain and evokes a feeling. It's inevitable! BUT! We have the power to decide wether we will believe what we heard to be truth.

I remember I once worked at a camp for one month. I was a part of the ropes crew. Throughout the summer we put hundreds of kids and adults through a ropes course, which was very high in the air and encouraged them to jump off at the end. There was no drop, but to see that when you jumped off nothing stood between you and the ground was a hard thing to deal with. It even took me some getting used to (I never totally did). I remember this one kid in particular who was SUPER afraid. He made his way through every obstacle with the help of the team. It definitely tested our patience but we could totally understand where he was coming from. It wasn't a walk in the park. At the end came the big "faith jump" and he was NOT havin' it! He screamed so loud. "I ain't jumpin'!!! I'm gonna fall and my brains are gonna splat!! I'm gonna die"!!! We continued to encourage him and try to calm him down. As I observed, I noticed that his hysterical nature was beginning to affect the other kids. They began to hear him and their steps toward the jump became a lot slower.  (let it marinate)

We do this same thing. Although we have been proven protected time and time again we fear a jump! We see something scary so, like the boy we begin to tell ourselves what will possibly occur. "I'll go broke!", "I'll lose him/ her", "I'll die"! When did you become a psychic and how's that workin' for you? Once we've spoken those words we choose to believe them and thus fear going further.

Now speaking is a whole other post, but the thing is, you're going to always have to speak something in  order to get over fear. You have to choose what you're going to speak, negativity (Death) or positivity (Life). When we speak life, which I believe comes for the word of God (The Holy Bible), we begin to get TRUE understanding of what we are not wise enough and will never be wise enough to understand.

So today, tackle what you are afraid of.

Just Like A Child

It's sad the way our creativity fades as we grow older. How our innocents vanishes as we grow wiser. Reminds me of Adam.
Today, look back at a time that you played pretend. A time when you actually thought you were something the world told you that you couldn't be. Don't make the mistake of believing the world again. Be who you truly are. Do what makes you feel joy. Just like a child.

Praying with Lior

Here's the trailer for a extraordinary documentary about a kid named Lior. He was born with challenges that set him apart from everyone else that we consider "normal". He has down syndrome or "up" Syndrome as he likes to put it. Throughout the film you see this child battle with numerous things that we take for granted but one thing that he has no struggle at all with is davening (Jewish for Praying).
He praises and sings constantly and the amount of joy this kid has is unfathomable when you think of the heavy burden it must be not to understand the world around you. He brings light to everyone he comes in contact with, from his family, to his school mates, to Don the barber who cuts his hair. Lior has no fear in showing affection and telling those around him that he loves them.
While watching this film you can't help but to want the connection to God that this child has. At one point, when asked what davening does to God, Lior replys "It makes Him feel good". That's powerful.
Today, say a prayer. Sing praise to the most high. Wholeness will follow.

Shalom.

Encouragement from Philippians

Sometimes when your going through it is challenging to see any good. Life is filled with good but rainy days are inevitable. The one thing that will change our mind set when going through these inevitable days is the word of God. In it, you will find peace that surpasses all understanding and without fully comprehending how you can smile with a sob in your heart, you manage. God is real folks. His word still holds true and If you take hold of it now it will transform your life.

Special Place In Heaven Award: DJ DAIN "Don't Worry, I'm Yours"

This is an AMAZING mashup of three great songs performed by Bobby McFerrin (who has been featured on the blog twice before), Jason Mraz, and Isreal Kamakawio'ole!

It's funny, These songs have individually been on heavy rotation for me on the low days and Isreal definitely accompanied me on plenty mornings headed to the office. How dope is it that we can hear them all in one. The lyrics, melody and soul of these songs are mood changing and I'm glad I came across it!

Comic Relief

Todays comic relief is of the cutest little girl EVER! It's actually not meant to be funny but her movements and the little boy in the crowd make this video one of the good ones.

What is Poor?

To understand what poor is we have to understand what is valuable, and what may be valuable to you may not be of any worth to me. -JT

I was talking to a friend one day and she said "Money is only equivalent to the thought we give it. If somebody with the power to do so said we are changing our currency to plastic forks, people would rob steal and kill for plastic forks." Now, of course it wouldn't be that easy but it does make a very valid point. Whatever you put your belief in creates value. This changes many perceptions on what it means to be rich or poor.

When thinking of being rich the first things that come to mind is this Hollywood example. Buy all of the top designers, eat at the fanciest restaurants, drive the best automobiles, and live in the biggest most furnished homes imaginable. This isn't a bad thing at all! Who doesn't want these things? The hard truth  is that all of these things will eventually go out of style, decrease in value, and rot. Like, literally... rot.
There are  things that will never rot, some that will determine wether we can even use our materials. I'm speaking of Love, Health and a Right Mind!

Health can decrease and we will all eventually pass away from here, but while we're still in strong bodies, with the activity of our limbs we  have a reason to be joyful. We can go about our day knowing that our physical beings aren't in any harm. You may have to go through a health issue to understand the magnitude of that sentence, and don't let me begin to talk about a right mind! How many people do you see daily that can't control their minds? It's a frightening thing to think I wouldn't have any self control, BUT I DO! That's a blessing!

LOVE! what is more greater than Love!?!? NOTHING! Love will never die and it is our ticket to a greater life, here and after. It is the most beautiful, most lasting thing we can give. If you give a man $20 he will be so thankful but may forget that you gave it. But give a man encouragement when the world is on his shoulders. When it seems that all the odds are against him. Comfort that man when he believes his life is ruined. Understand him when he doesn't understand himself! Be kind to him when he is being an absolute jackass to you. This, he will never forget.

So what is poor? Is it not having the latest everything and barely being able to afford anything? Or, is it going through life with a frown, not understanding how rich we really are.

Mr. West speaks Truth
